OS X: Force a Disk to Unmount

My external hard drive was "player hating" on me so I had to force unmount it. I'm placing the terminal command here for my own future reference:
diskutil unmountDisk force /Volumes/disk_name

Thanks! I'd been trying all sorts of things to get my external HD to unmount without success - but this command did the trick instantly with no complaints!
